Margao, Feb 15: Much awaited suspense was unfolded after Joseph Dias, Managing Director of VJT entertainment announced that the Allison D’Souza from Vasco, had snatched the Miss Goa 2009 crown.

Gala event of Miss Goa took place at Palavra de Jardin, Nuvem, on Saturday, 14 February.

Runner up was Ronda Martins from Panjim. While Miss Catwalk was Marylou De Mello –Banaulim, Miss Talent was Hazel Fatima D’Cruz – Raia and Miss Smile was Crystal Campos – succor.

I am very much excited. This is one kind of gift I have presented to my family on the valentine day. I am really happy. It’s a dream come true for me, said Miss Goa 2009, while talking to media.

If I get the chance to make the career in modeling, I will definitely do that, she said further.

Miss Goa competition which entered this time in 6th year, had received around 126 entry forms. Eleven were selected for the final show. Unfortunately one girl met with accident and only 10 could catwalk on the ramp.

Event started with ethnic round, then evening gown round, casual round, talent round and lastly questionnaire round.

Heart throbbing sound and glittering lightning created the picture of real gala event and the programs presented by various artistes from Goa and Mumbai made people to dance.

Anjali Motwani -Porvorim, Elaine Godinho –Neura, Allison Tara D’Souza - Vasco, Hazel Fatima D’Cruz - Raia, Rohisha Tivrenkar - Marcel, Ms Crystal Campos - succor, Nalisha Natasha Carrasco - Mapuca, Ronda Martins - Karanzale, Marylou De Mello -Banaulim, Shweta Shetye- Chikhalim, are among those participated in the event.

Romanch Mehta, the Mumbai-based choreographer had choreographed the whole event. While the panel of judges for the evening were Ramayan fame Gurmeet Chaudhary, Ramayan fame Debina Bannerjee and runner up of Galdrags and channel V miss hottest 2008 Vedita Pratap singh.

Judges said that goan girls have the potential to make their future in modeling and acting. Girls here are much confident and have command over languages, which is most important.

Ana Carina dancer from France entertained the gathering with her special dance of lights. Also Unbeatable group from Vasco rocked the show with their dance performances. South Indian dancer Sangeeta also rocked the evening, with her best performance.

The event was sponsored by Budweiser. Former Miss Goa Ashlin Barboza crowned Miss Goa 2009.

Winner of Miss Goa title was awarded cash prize Rs 15000, plus gold and the runner up was awarded with Rs 10000 plus gold and several other gifts.

Joe Dias of VJT Entertainments told that this event is being organized to provide plank for young and budding Goans. From this event Goan girls can present their talent to world.

Former Miss Goa Jenice Sobti compared the whole program. PWD minister Churchill Alemao, Minister Joaquim Alemao, MLA Chandrakant Kavlekar were present.

    Dear Peter/Kavitha I am not a supporter any Sena, I can not say whether they are right or wrong. I got angry because of Mr. Imar's  comments on the name of our Godes Sita Matha.No one do not have the right to comment any religon as I respect other religons.

    Dear Karunkar, since u expressed support towards these senas, do you think these senas doing any good towards welfare of the society. Do u think Lord Ram will be happy to see all these incidents happend recently. Y cant these senas work for the welfare of the society, like Road, water electricity facility improvements.
