Mangaluru, Mar 8: Mahesh College of Commerce and Management emerged winners at ‘Sahyadri Whiz Quiz 2019’ organised by Department of Business Administration of Sahyadri College of Engineering and Management, at the College premises on Friday, March 8.

The Department of Commerce, MAHE bagged first runner-up prize and SDM College Ujire bagged second runner-up prize. Total 6 teams, each consisting 3 students entered the finale of the quiz competition.

This event for undergraduates created a fun-filled atmosphere for learning and acquiring general knowledge about current events in business world. The main aim of the event was to motivate students to bring themselves up-to-date with the latest news and other emerging developments in the areas of business, history, marketing, HR, finance, politics, entertainment, literature and Indian economy.

The quiz programme was designed in two phases such as college round and Sahyadri campus round. College round of the quiz was held in the month of February and March in selected 50 colleges in the districts of Mangaluru, Udupi, Kodagu, Karwar, Belgaum, Shivmogga, Hassan, Chikmagalur and Kasaragod.

Around 9000 students took part in the first round of the quiz, out of which 1000 students were selected for the Sahyadri campus round.

Canara Bank (Bendoorwell) chief manager Reese Mathews was the quiz master for the grand finale of Sahyadri whiz quiz 2019.

Winners were awarded trophy and Rs 25,000, first runner-up won trophy and Rs 15,000 and second runner up won a trophy and Rs 10,000.

Chairman of Sri Ramakrishna Credit co-operative Society Jairaj B Rai and head talent acquisition Manipal technologies Vidya Shenoy distributed prizes for the winners and runner ups.

Principal of Sahyadri College of engineering and management Dr R Srinivas Rao Kunte, Coordinator of Whiz Quiz Prof Girish M, Director MBA Dr Vishal Samartha and others were present.
