Udupi, Feb 14: A three-day national workshop on Colour Measurement and Management will be organized by the department of printing and media engineering, Manipal Institute of Technology, Manipal University here from February 16 to 18.
The workshop will form part of the training activities of printing industry for students, which now offers short training courses for the benefit of the Indian printing industry, according to Dr G K Sharma, head of the department, PME, MIT, Manipal. It is being sponsored by Kodak CMM-09.
The workshop will be conducted under the expert guidance of Kiran P Prayagi, a consultant and also an adjunct faculty of Manipal University with support from Manipal Press Limited.
Damodar Pai, manager of Manipal Press, Manipal and Susheel George, senior quality control manager of Malayala Manorama, Kottayam will share their expertise and experience with the participants.
Gretag Macbeth, now X-Rite and Kodak India Limited, will be involved in the workshop. Printing professionals from all over the country are being invited to attend this event, where recent trends and challenges in 'Colour Management' will be discussed and debated.
The workshop is being held mainly to unfold the complexities of 'colour management science' in daily work. Communication in colour has problems similar to those of communication in language. What is needed is an interpreter, capable of interpreting the colour properly, which will be the main theme of this workshop. Workshop also includes the hands-on practice on the latest generation of equipments in the area of colour science.
