Udupi, Mar 8: Udupi, Mar 8: Sugamya Udupi district Mahila Okkoota will be inaugurated on March 10. Catholic Stri-Sanghatan, Central committee Udupi diocese will also celebrate International Women's day in association with Sampada Udupi at Mathura Kala Bhavan, near Carstreet Sri Krishna math, Udupi.
Dr Gerald Isaac Lobo, bishop of Udupi diocese will be presided over the function and blessings will be done by Fr Baptist Menezes of Udupi diocese.
Udupi deputy commissioner, Hephsiba Rani Korlapati, will inaugurate the event.
Gracy Gonsalves, deputy director of women's and child development department, Zeeta D'Souza, state co-coordinator of women empowerment project Cros Bengaluru, Shahanaz M, editor-in-chief, Anupama monthly magazine will be the chief guests of the programme.
Zenet Barboza, president, Catholic Stri-sanghatan, Fr Rezinald, administrative director of Sampada and other office bearers will be present.
The catholic women organization was established for empowering the women, developing value-based families, guiding children and youths through mother, to help women participate in government schemes and get benefits.
At present, as many as 6500 women have got membership in 456 Self Help groups. It has 50 large organizations. Through this, the Arpana Mahila okkota Karkala Taluk, Bhavana Mahila okkoota, Kundapura-Byndoor Taluk, Inchara Mahila okkoota, Kaup Taluk, Ujwala Mahila okkoota, Brahmavar taluk, Sharadhi Mahila okkoota Udupi taluk are also functioning actively. Sugamya will be federation of all together and will work for integrated development, said president of Catholic Stri-Sanghatan Janet Barboza.
