Bengaluru, Mar 8: Even as its coalition partner, JD(S), continues to demand allocation of ten to 12 Lok Saba constituencies to it in the Lok Sabha election in spite of holding only two seats in Karnataka as of now, Congress has prepared to release its list of probable candidates from 25 constituencies. It has confirmed tickets to nine of its sitting MPs.
This move has come as an embarrassment for JD(S) as both Congress and JD(S) have announced that they would enter into electoral understanding for the Lok Sabha election. Now, Congress has prepared list of probables for 25 out of 28 constituencies in the state. The list is as follows:
1. Bidar: Ishwar Khandre, Geetha Ishwar Khandre, Ibrahim, Vijay Singh. 2. Bagalakote: Bayakka Meti, Veena Kashappanavar. 3. Vijayapura: Raju Alagur,Prakash Rathod. 4. Koppal: Basanagouda Badarli, Basavaraj Hitnal. 5. Belagavi: Anjali Nimbalkar, Chennaraj Hebbalkar. 6. Dharwad: Vinay Kulkarni, Shakhir Sanadi. 7. Haveri: Basavaraj Shivannavar, Saleem Ahmed. 8. Davanagere: S S Mallikarjun. 9. Uttara Kannada: Prashanth Deshpande, Nivedith Alva. 10. Udupi-Chikkamagaluru: Pramod Madhwaraj, Vijayakumar. (some reports mention Arathi Krishna) 11. Mangaluru: Ramanath Rai, Vinay Kumar Sorake, B K Hariprasad (some reports mention Jayamala and Ivan D'Souza also) 12. Bengaluru (Central): Arshad Rizwan, Hariprasad, Roshan Baig. 13. Bengaluru (South): Priyakrishna, Ramalinga Reddy. 14. Bengaluru (North): Narayana Swamy, M R Seetharam. 15: Mysuru: Vijay Shankar. 16. Chikkodi: Prakash Hukkeri 17. Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee president, Dinesh Gundu Rao, held a meeting of ticket aspirants from his party on Thursday. JD(S) has been demanding for a minimum of ten seats while Congress has agreed for six so far. Another round of discussions would be held to iron out the differences, it is gathered.
37 aspirants took part in the meeting. It is gathered that Congress is prepared to leave aside Bengaluru (North), Hassan, Mandya, Shivamogga, Uttara Kannada, and Vijayapura constituencies to its coalition partner.
In the meanwhile, state BJP president, B S Yeddyurappa, is on a visit to New Delhi with a list of probables for the Lok Sabha election. He would hold discussions with the national president of the party, Amit Shah, before finalizing the list. He proposes to announce the entire list on March 12 or 13 if Amit Shah gives his nod to the entire list. Otherwise, the list may be announced in two phases, sources said.
