Gadag, Mar 7: “Ambareesh is a leader who has won the hearts of the people of Mandya. Speaking cheaply about him, does not augur well for CM H D Kumaraswamy,” said B S Yeddyurappa, state BJP president here on March 7.
When questioned whether BJP will support the candidature of Sumalata, Yeddyurappa said that “Sumalata has not contacted BJP. We have also not contacted her. So once Sumalata Ambareesh takes a decision, BJP will make its stand clear. The chief minister has spoken cheaply about late Ambareesh as the candidature of Sumalata will be an obstacle for his son Nikil’s victory in the Lok Sabha election. This move of Kumaraswamy is not correct.”
“No discussion is held so far in the BJP with regards to the Mandya Lok Sabha ticket. We are going to win 22 seats this time around in the state. In addition, we will win in more than 300 seats in the country. Narendra Modi will be the prime minister once again,” said B S Yeddyurappa expressing his confidence.
Continuing his speech, Yeddyurappa further said, “The coalition government is going to collapse after the Lok Sabha elections. More than 20 MLAs of Congress are not accepting Kumaraswamy as their chief minister. There is lots of confusion in the coalition government. So the coalition government is going to collapse after the Lok Sabha elections.” In the meantime, he also said that Shivakumar Udasi of BJP will win by an margin of at least one lakh votes in Haveri-Gadag Lok Sabha constituency.
Responding to the matter of contention of Lakhan Jarkiholi from Ballary, Yeddyurappa said, “No decision is taken yet. We cannot take decision without Sriramulu in this context. Just wait and see who is going to get routed after the Lok Sabha elections. I will meet Amit Shah in Delhi on Friday, March 8. In that meeting itself I will finalize the list of BJP candidates for the coming Lok Sabha elections.”
