Udupi, Feb 13: The district unit of the Students Islamic Organization of India (SIO), urged that the statewide campaign against terrorism being embarked on by the BJP here from Saturday February 14, should have a secular appeal.
The SIO alleged that such campaigns were in fact the handiwork of a communal party that thrives on sowing the seeds of hatred among people of various faiths, religion, and diverse cultures, which will in turn have long term consequences on national security.
The organization also expressed concern over the recent attack on young girls at a pub in Mangalore, by activists of a communal outfit, under the guise of safeguarding Indian culture, as well as harassing innocent youth with alleged terrorist links.
The district unit of the SIO hopes that the campaign against terrorism to be held on Saturday, will not become a politically-motivated one.
Hussein Kodibengre, Farouq Atrady, Adil Hoode, Rizwan Udupi, and Shoab, were present at the press conference.
