Udupi, Mar 7: “Tourism should receive maximum publicity so that tourists receive relevant information any moment from anywhere in the world and get attracted. Tourism will grow depending on the number of people it reaches to in the future,” said Karnataka minister of women and child development, empowerment of differently abled and senior citizens Dr Jayamala.
She was speaking after inaugurating ‘Coffee table book Udupi’ consisting of comprehensive information and pictures of Udupi held by Udupi district administration, department of tourism in association with Malpe development committee at Atal Bihari Vajpayee auditorium here on Wednesday, March 6.
“Places pull us towards them by their specialty. There are several spots in the state that can provide sufficient opportunities for tourism. We should hold at least one programme in a year that will make the state beautiful and make it reach its peak in tourism. There should be work to increase income and encourage tourism,” she said.
She distributed grant for tourist taxies to twelve people and Rs four crore and ninety lac released by the department of tourism for nine hotel projects.
Deputy commissioner Hepsiba Rani Korlapati, district SP Nisha James, Udupi municipal council president Anand B Kallolikar, coastal tourism association president Manohar Shetty, Apna holidays’s Nagaraj Hebbar and district tourism department assistant director Anita Bhasker were present.
