Kalaburagi, Mar 6: Dr Umesh Jadhav, who was elected on Congress ticket from Chincholi constituency here during the previous election, and who had resigned on Monday, officially joined the BJP on Wednesday March 6 in the presence of BJP Karnataka state president, B S Yeddyurappa. Immediately thereafter, he sought support of the people and requested them to provide him with an opportunity to serve them.
State BJP president,B S Yeddyurappa, extended a warm welcome to Dr Umesh Jadhav at a programme organized at N V Maidan here. Union minister, D V Sadaanda Gowda, was among the leaders who were present on the occasion.
Addressing the people in Hindi after crossing over to BJP, Dr Umesh Jadhav said that he had joined BJP on his own accord and with a happy heart. He said that Narendra Modi becoming the Prime Minister of the country again happens to be his dream.
Recalling the words of former Prime Minister, Atal Bihari Vajpayee, on the occasion, Jadhav thanked the leaders who facilitated his joining of BJP.
Jadhav,who has accused Mallikarjun Kharge, his relative, of sacrificing values as he has held his love for his son above everything. Continuing his address in Kannada thereafter, Dr Umesh Jadhav said that he happens to be an ordinary leader and sought support of the people.
Jadhav had resigned from his membership of the state assembly and primary membership of Congress party on Monday. He has turned a new leaf in his political life by joining BJP.
Dr Umesh Jadhav is likely to be fielded by BJP in the 2019 Lok Sabha election as its candidate from Kalaburagi constituency against veteran Congress leader, Mallikarjun Kharge.
