Mysuru, Mar 5: Chaos reigned supreme at Hunsur where foundation stone laying ceremony for Devaraj Urs government hospital was organized on Monday March 4. It all started with Pushpa Amarnath, Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee women's wing president, charging the organizers of protocol violation and lodging her protest with JD(S) leaders.
This 100-bed hospital is being constructed on bypass road at a cost of Rs 25 crore. Pushpa accused the organizers of the programme of purposefully avoiding printing deputy chief minister, Dr G Parameshwara's picture in the flex prepared to announce the event. She was particularly critical of local MLA and state JD(S) president, A H Vishwanath, duly pointing out to him that the state is governed by a coalition arrangement and that the failure to have picture of Dr Parameshwara in the flex had clearly violated protocol and coalition principles.
Vishwanath tried to explain to her that the flex had been hoisted by his party workers and not by any government department. He mentioned that the flex prepared by Congress workers too did not have the picture of the deputy chief minister in it. When this shortcoming was pointed out to her, Pushpa Amarnath abruptly stopped protesting, and made a hurried exit from the scene.
Thereafter, a verbal spat ensued between the workers of the two parties. The police, sensing that the situation might go out of control, intervened and brought the situation under control.
Later, district in-charge minister, G T Deve Gowda, pointed out that the flex erected by Congress party workers had photos of some former MLAs in it instead of the chief minister and deputy chief minister.
