Kundapur, Mar 4: The mysterious death of Gulabi, who was found dead in sleeping position on her bed, on March 1 has turned out to be murder as suspected.
Police, who worked on the suspicions expressed by people, got the postmortem of the dead body done in Manipal. It is said that according to the post mortem report there are indications of this case being a murder. Udupi SP Nisha James visited the spot of the murder on Sunday.
Gulabi who was hale and hearty on Thursday night, was found dead on Friday morning. Local people had expressed suspicions regarding the cause of her death. Four and half sovereign gold chain, which the deceased Gulabi used to wear, was missing from her neck. In addition, the people had seen ash of cigarettes also inside the house of Gulabi.
Police had registered a case of mysterious death. Injuries not visible to the naked eye on her neck were found during the postmortem. The CCTV installed in Vijaya Cashew Factory near the residence of Gulabi had stopped working on Thursday evening. Police intensified the investigation and have taken eight people into custody suspecting of this to be the case of murder.
It is said that five teams are formed to hold investigation in different angles. The SP, during her visit to the spot on Sunday evening was accompanied by Kundapur DySP B P Dinesh Kumar, circle inspector Manjappa and Byndoor circle inspector Parameshwar.
SP Nisha James visited Kollur, Byndoor, Gangolli and Kundapur police stations also where she held discussions and gathered details with regards to this case.
