Mangalore, Feb 10: On Monday February 9, affidavits were filed in the court, saying that those arrested in the case relating to the abduction of Manjeshwar MLA Kunhambu's daughter and beating up her friend, are not Bajrang Dal activists.
The families of the accused have filed these affidavits. This repudiates the repeated claims of the leftists, that the attack was sponsored by Hindu outfits.
Kariyappa Shetty, father of Satish, one of the accused, told the media in the court premises on Monday that he himself has been a leader of CPI and his son had worked for the CPI (M) during the election. Narayan Maniyani, father of another accused, driver Arvind Das, said his son has nothing to with Bajrang Dal and that he is a supporter of Communist Party.
In the meanwhile, advocate for the accused has applied to the court for summoning the records of mobile and SMS records of MLA’s daughter Shruti and her friend Shabeeb. Advocate P P Hegde said that mobile records will help in bringing out the truth, as political influence has the potential to interfere with police investigations.
