Udupi, Mar 3: Kannada film 'Ramana Savari' won third place at the 11th Bengaluru International Film Festival (BIFF). The movie was produced by Sudha Creations owned by Stroiney Pais and his wife Swapna.
Aaron Pais, the six-year-old son of the producer couple, plays the main role in the movie, which won laurels among many entries.
Mookajiya Kanasugalu by P Sheshadri and Savitribhai Phule by Vishaal Raj received first and second prizes respectively.
The film festival was organised by the Karnataka Chalanachitra Academy and the Department of Information and Public Relations of the Karnataka State.
As many as 211 entries from 50 countries were there in this year’s competition and Aaron made a promising entry into the film industry. It is worth to note that Stroiney Pais is famed to be a versatile stage actor in Barkur.
This year ‘nature’s fury’ was the theme of the competition and Ramana Savari is adapted from Ramana Savari Santhege Hodadu by K Sadashiva. K Shivarudraiah directed the film. It is a storyline that depicts the family system, male relationship, parental responsibility, social justice disorder and social responsibilities.
It is filmed at the backdrop of Malnadu scenario of 1970’s. The storyline follows a family where there is constant conflict between parents leading to their child developing mental illness. It is an effective display of the events, narrating the difference of opinion in parents and how it affects their growing son. Sonu Gowda and Rajesh Nataranga have done justice to their roles as. Acclaimed film director Girish Kasaravalli wrote dialogues for the film.
Sudha Belavadi, Bhargavi Narayan have also played important roles in the movie. Camera work was by Vishwanath and K Kalyan provided music for the film.
