Mangaluru, Mar 3: "The statement made by former chief minister of Karnataka, B S Yeddyurappa, has once again gone on to prove that BJP leaders are prepared to go to any extent for serving their political interests. At a time when Congress is concerned about the safety and welfare of the country in relation to attack on security forces, BJP is concentrating on reaping political benefits by way of bagging higher number of seats," criticized Dakshina Kannada district in-charge minister U T Khader.
Replying to questions raised by media persons on Saturday, Khader felt that statement made by a former chief minister of increasing the party's tally instead of supporting the families of soldiers and citizens of the country at a time when the security forces faced threat can be termed as a blot on the political situation in the country.
Khader said that when Mumbai terror attack happened, Congress had taken responsibility for the same and asked the then chief minister of Maharashtra to step down. He said that this is the time for the central leadership of the party to act and show that they too shoulder responsibility. "I congratulate Wing Commander Abhinandan. He has enhanced the honour of the country by not sharing any information with the enemy soldiers. Although our former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, spoke very little, he spoke consciously and talked only sense. We are now faced with a situation in which even children are unable to fathom what our Prime Minister is talking about," he ridiculed.
Kadaba, Moodbidri taluk inauguration
Speaking at a press conference at the circuit house here, Khader said that Kadaba and Moodbidri taluks will get official inauguration on March 7. He also said that carving out of Ullal taluk from Mangaluru will ease the burden on the administration as this taluk, with a population of ten lac, was becoming unwieldy. Terming this as a bold initiative that will pave for construction of separate Mini Vidhana Soudha, taluk level court complex, 100-bed hospital, stadium, Ambedkar Bhavan etc, he opined that these facilities will further augment progress of this area. This will be known as Ullal/Mangaluru rural taluk, he stated.
