Udupi, Mar 1: Udupi-Chikmagalur MP Shobha Karandlaje blamed the inaction of previous governments in responding to Pakistan sponsored terror as the main reason for the tensions prevailing today.
Speaking to reporters on Friday, March 1, she praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi for taking a strong stand against the terror attack.
"If the then Prime Minister had taken strong action on Kashmir issue we would not have faced this situation on the border. PM Modi is lion cub and because of his decisions most of the countries are supporting India,” she said.
"As opposition demanded, were they expecting us to be neutral? Were they expecting India to have a dialogue with Pakistan? This is not a time for dialogue," she said.
"Pakistan is harbouring terrorists. Wing commander Abhinandan is our hero. While he ejected from his fighter jet, he crossed over to Pakistan territory. As per the Geneva agreement, war captives must not be tortured but yet Pakistan had released a video of our pilot being beaten. But by his release we have won diplomatic battle,” she claimed.
Regarding BS Yeddyurappa's statement that 22 Lok Sabha seats are guaranteed for BJP post airstrike, she said that there is no connection between surgical strike and the elections.
"I have lost more than Rs 1 crore to hackers. I had saved it for the purpose of spending it for this election. I have lost it due to online transactions and it is being hacked by using PayTM. Delhi police, cyber crime department is investigating the case and I have recovered Rs 25,000 and one hacker has been arrested. We welcome digital India scheme by PM Modi to fight corruption,” she said.
Responding on the missing fishermen issue, "It has been 60 days since fishermen went missing but there is not a single clue about them. Maharashtra navy team is searching for them. If they were alive, by now we would have got at least one clue. We need to compensate the kin of the missing fishermen.”
Regarding Lok Sabha polls, she said that the decision of party on who should be given ticket will be final. "Some of the party leaders are creating confusion. If party asks me to contest from Udupi, I am ready for it," she said.
