Bengaluru, Mar 1: Do not be surprised if you spot a drone conducting land surveys. The state government led by H D Kumaraswamy is using the latest technology to obtain accurate land records and hence help people and farmers by carrying out quick land surveys in the state.
The state government represented by Rajkumar Khatri, principal secretary, Revenue signed a memorandum of understanding with Lt. Gen. Girish Kumar, secretary general of the Survey of India, to use drone technology to conduct land surveys.
“The drone survey will remove human errors while preparing land records as well as eliminate manipulation of boundary lines,” said Revenue minister R V Deshpande at a press conference.
With pilot tests being successful in Jayanagar 4th block and Ramanagar, the government plans to use drones across the state in two phases.
In the first phase, drones will be used to do surveys in Hassan, Ramanagara, Tumakuru, Uttara Kannada, Belagavi and Bengaluru city over a period of about two years.
In the second phase the survey method will be extended to Vijayapura, Kodagu, Dharwad, Dakshina Kannada, Mysuru, Gadag, Davangere and Kalaburagi.
Deshpande said a Continuously Operating Reference Station has been set up for the survey which is better than GPS and works 24/7. “The drone survey is quick, cost effective and will provide a perfect map of each property based on geo-referral. The map will be prepared over 2,000 kms and the state government will bear the expenditure for the same,” he added.
Deshpande concluded that adopting the latest technology in the survey of land /properties was his dream, which has now turned reality.
