Beltangady, Feb 9: The inaugural of the national seminar on 'Challenges in Kannada Culture and Possibilities' was held Sri Dharmastala Manjunateshwara College, Ujire on Saturday February 7.
Speaking after inaugurating the seminar, Prof Shadakshari Shettar, honourary director, Indira Gandhi National Art Centre Bangalore, said that the thought of exploring new dimensions has the potential to evoke interest and curiosity in the language.
Presiding over the function, Prof S Prabhakar said that the growth and protection of language is in the hands of the public. The media must also play an important role in safeguarding the precious language, he advised.
Dr B P Sampat Kumar, head of Kannada department welcomed the gathering. Rajesh B, lecturer, proposed vote of thanks. Dr K V Nagarajappa co-ordinated the programme.
Prof K Nagabhushan, vice-principal, SDM College and S Satishchandra, principal, SDM pre-university college were present on the occasion.
