Kasargod, Feb 28: P Sriramakrishnan, speaker of Kerala Legislative Assembly laid the foundation stone for 'Tulu Bhavana' which is the center for Kerala Tulu Academy.
The building of Tulu Bhavana will come up at an estimated cost of Rs 80 lacs at Durgipalla of Manjeshwar near here. One acre of land is reserved for this purpose.
P Karunakaran, MP of the city, presided over the function. The new issue of the tri-monthly Tulu magazine 'Tembare' was released by former MLA C H Kunhambu.
MLA K Kunhiraman, assistant deputy commissioner, Jayalakshmi N, Meenja gram panchayat member Shailaja Balakrishnan, BJP district committee president and lawyer K Srikant, CPI district committee secretary B V Rajan, member of RSP (Leninist) V K Rameshan, secretary of Manjeshwar Govind Pai memorial committee K R Jayanand, Tulu Koota Kasaragod leader Adoor Umesh Naik, president of Kumble Partisubba Kalakshetra Jayaram Manjathaya, Majeshwar Tahsildar John Verghese P, president of Kannada Sahitya Parishad, Kerala border unit, S V Bhat, executive member of Bharat Bhavan, M Shankar Rai Master, president of Manjeshwar CDS Jyotiprabha and Dharmasthala rural development officer Chethana M were present.
President of Kerala Tulu Academy, Umesh M Salian welcomed the gathering. Member of the academy Ramakrishna Kadambar compered the programme. Secretary of the academy Vijaykumar Pavala rendered vote of thanks.
Dr A M Sridharan, lexicologist, who has achieved a lot in the Tulu language and Laxmi G Prasad were facilitated on the occasion. Suchita Rai, member of Tulu academy offered the congratulatory speech.
Various troupes presented programmes of essence of Janapada and art of Tulu language under the name of 'Tulu Rangitodo Les'. 'Paddana Nalike Mela' presented by Bolike Janapada Kala team of Kanneppadi attracted the attention due to their unique style. The team led by Horoya artiste Shakar Swamy Kripa presented 'Dudi Paddana', 'Prikriti Aradhane', 'Neji Paddana', 'Pili-Panji Paddana' etc shows.
