Mandya, Feb 28: "Former minister late Ambareesh did nothing for this district. I will prove my mettle by achieving unprecedented progress of this district which Ambareesh could not," said Karnataka chief minister, H D Kumaraswamy, who launched scathing attack on Ambareesh, whose wife is proposing to enter Lok Sabha this time from here.
Addressing the media persons in the town on Wednesday, Kumaraswamy pointed out that Ambareesh was the in-charge minister for this district. "He did not undertake any development works in the district. The platinum jubilee celebrations of the district were celebrated in a grand way during his period but that ceremony was confined to entertainment programmes. No announcements about any development programmes were made then. Ambareesh overlooked the district's development for five full years," he charged.
The chief minister said he had good friendly relationship with Ambareesh even though the celebrated actor belonged to another political party, and both of them were united. "After his demise, certain people are trying to wedge a divide between the family of Ambareesh and us. On the day he died, I extended the honour I was expected of, in the capacity of the chief minister. Having understood the love and affection people of the district had on him, I also arranged to bring his mortal remains here to enable people to have his last glimpse. Those who were saying then that there was no need to take his mortal remains to this district are now speaking about the district," he criticized.
Kumaraswamy said that there is a bright chance for a Kannadiga to become Prime Minister again this time. "If the coalition candidates win a minimum of 20 to 22 seats in Karnataka, a Kannadiga will surely become the Prime Minister. During the period Deve Gowda was the Prime Minister, there were no terrorist activities. During the ten months he was in power, no families turned listless. Why are these things taking place now?" he questioned.
He mentioned about Prime Minister, Narendra Modi's statement that waiving of farmer loans is a sin and asked the farmers to show their reaction to this statement during the election.
