Mangalore, Feb 7: The St Aloysius College will commence its community radio station (CRS) operations -Sarang - by March this year.
According to Fr Richard Rego, head of the department of mass communication and journalism, the college has signed the GOPA (grant of permission agreement) with the ministry of information and broadcasting on Thursday.
"We have submitted our documents for WOL (Wire Operator's Licence) through the ministry of telecommunications and information technology. If things go on as planned, we should be on air by March," he added.
St Aloysius College will be the first educational institution in Dakshina Kannada to have CRS.
It has been allotted 107.8 MHZ frequency and will air news in a 15-km radius through its 50 Watt transmitter.
