Bengaluru: Infosys arm to build hospitals in state

Bengaluru, Feb 27 (IANS): The global software major's philanthropic arm Infosys Foundation on Wednesday said it would build two hospitals in Karnataka, one each in Bengaluru and Ramanagara district.

"The Foundation has tied up with the Jayadeva Institute of Cardiovascular Sciences and Research in Bengaluru to build a 300-bed hospital complex within the Jayadeva premises," the city-based organisation said in a statement.

The new complex will help in reducing the congestion faced by the hospital and treat poor patients, it said.

Along with the Health and Family Welfare Department of Ramanagara district, the Foundation said it will construct a 100-bed maternal and child care hospital in Kanakapura taluk (sub-district), about 60 km south from here.

The investment by the Foundation into these two medical facilities, however, was not disclosed.
