Chikkamagaluru, Feb 27: Udupi - Chikkamagaluru MP, Shobha Karandlaje, proposes to fight the coming Lok Sabha election this time too from this constituency, but she is facing stiff resistance from the people. Some people had launched 'Go Back Shobha' campaign sometime back through social websites, but she had termed it as a handiwork of a handful of people.
It is gathered that at the district level BJP core committee meeting, the members expressed opposition to her candidature. Some leading members of the committee, it is said, expressed themselves against this proposal and took her to task. They wanted her to spell out her achievements on the basis of which workers can seek votes for the party. "You had said in the past that you would not contest from her this time. Therefore, other leaders were preparing to fight the election. Now, your entry has turned the situation volatile," they complained.
The members also pointed out that the ESI Hospital sanctioned to the district was allotted to Belagavi district as the officials did not send proposal in time.
Shobha clarified that she had been given various responsibilities by the party as a result of which she had to move around the state during zilla panchayat and assembly elections. She told them that if she was to discharge responsibility pertaining to this constituency alone, she could have handled it properly.
