Abu Dhabi: 15th Vishwa Kannada Sanskriti Sammelana held in grandeur

Abu Dhabi, Feb 26: The 15th Vishwa Kannada Sanskriti Sammelana was held in Abu Dhabi, the capital of UAE on February 22 and 23. The event was organised by Abu Dhabi Karnataka Sangha, Hridayavahini and was presided by Kannada Book Authority president Dr Vasundara Bhupathi.

Abu Dhabi Karnataka Sangha president Sarvotham Shetty who took up the onus of organising the event chalked-out the plan to ensure that the event was held in a smooth manner.

NMC group president Dr B R Shetty was present during the two-day event and wished the organizers the best.



On the first day, the guests were welcomed to the stage amidst traditional Tulunadu percussions, which was then followed by singing Indian national anthem and UAE national anthem.

Dance performances by various troupes that came from Karnataka, Kikkeri Krishnamurthy’s musical extravaganza, mimicry by Gopi, folk dance by Kannadiga women from UAE enthralled all.

‘Bhuddhana Nadu Bhutan’ book was released during the event. The artwork and jewelery made by hearing-impaired kids were on display by Swayam Seva Samsthan, Bengaluru.

The second day had a dance and music events too. M D Kaushik’s magic show mesmerized all.

Renowned actor Mukhyamantri Chandru spoke about ’Kannadathana’ or being Kannadiga, in his talk.

Hani Kavana session by the non-resident Kannadigas was held, which took the audience on a laughter-riot.

Vishwavani, Kannada daily news editor Vishweshwara Bhat spoke about challenges faced by the media today. This was followed by a quiz for the audience.

During the valedictory event, Vishwamanya Award and Vishwa Kannada Sammelana Award were given away to achievers from various fields.

Radio Jockey Avinash Kamath compered the event.

The Sammelana served a cultural and literary feast to the audience for two days.
