Mangalore, Feb 6: Mangalore Refinery and Petrochemicals Ltd has defended the golden award granted to it last year, in the overall category under exports. Likewise, Rajesh Exports Ltd, Bangalore has got the silver award in this category for the second year in succession.
Large Industries minister Murugesh Nirani handed over awards pertaining to two years, 2005-06 and 2006-07, to the heads of these companies at a function held in the city on Thursday February 5.
Awards for the two years were separately conferred on firms that excelled in exports for the above two years. A total of 15 awards were given. Gokuldas Exports from Bangalore, Hanuman Weaving Factory Bangalore, Tata BP Solar India, Hindalco Industries, Kane's Technology Mysore and N Ranga Rao and Sons secured best export award for both the above years.
Bola Surendra Kamat and Sons got the award under Agricultural Processing sector for 2006-07. In the district-level, Sterling Foods got awards for both the years at Dakshina Kannada district-level, while Hindustan Uniliver Ltd Brahmavar and Bola Raghavendra Kamath and Sons got Udupi district-level export awards for 2005-06.
