Bantwal, Feb 6: Dr R Ganesh, scholar and well known Shatavadhani emphasized that spirituality is not a hidden knowledge, but the basic right and necessity of every individual to lead a fulfilled life. "Spiritual bankruptcy has been the root cause for all our problems. Therefore, every one should aim at being spiritual," he said.
After inaugurating the 48th birthday celebrations of Odiyur Swamiji on Wednesday February 4 at Odiyoor temple near here, he said that the Avadhut Dattatreya spiritual path which the Swamiji has been treading, is a spiritual journey where the body is put through lot of tribulations, for becoming immune over the bodily affection. The Odiyoor Swamiji has been ably following in this path and is incessantly making efforts to bring the society together, he said.
In his message delivered on the occasion of Mandalotsava held in the Atreya Mantap of Anasooya Pandal in Odiyoor temple, Odiyoor Sri Gurudevananda Swamiji said that spiritual life lifts one out of the worldly afflictions and enables him to feel contented and joyful always. He wanted the Mandalotsavaa to be celebrated hereafter as an annual festival of cultural renaissance. "By being refined, we will be able to conserve our culture. If we forget the heritage of agriculture and sages, the country will face famine. It is possible to enjoy a healthy and happy living if we fusion science with spirituality," he stressed.
On this occasion, Odiyoor Swamiji felicitated Karnataka Yakshagana Academy president Kumble Sundar Rao, Tulu Academy president Dr Paltady Ramakrishna Achar and Yoga teacher Delampady Gopalakrishna Bhat. Shatavadhani Dr R Ganesh was also honoured on behalf of the Odiyoor Samsthan, after which R Ganesh presented an 'Ashtavadhana' programme.
Earlier in the day, The Swamiji was brought in a grand procession, seated in a decorated vehicle and accompanied by thousands of people. R D Suvarna couple received the Swamiji at the venue of the function by offering Puja to the feet of the Swamiji and a garland made of holy basil.
Honorary guide of Mandalotsav Mohandas Swamiji of Manila Sridhama and honorary president Srimatanandamayi of Odiyoor were present.
