Bengaluru, Feb 25: Actor Prakash Raj termed Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s gesture of washing feet of sanitary workers as election gimmick and advised him to stop it.
Prakash Raj tweeted the video of the PM washing feet of five civic workers and wrote “dear supreme leader. Stop this ELECTION GIMMICKS Manual #scavengers need Dignity of labour .. job security.. future for their children .. better equipments n safety measures .. NOT YOUR DRAMA.”
The video which starts with PM washing the feet continues portraying the hard work put in by manual scavengers and their struggles without equipment and facilities.
The Prime Minister had taken part in Kumbh Mela in Uttar Pradesh on Sunday. He applied Vibhoothi on his forehead, poured water on the feet of civic workers and wiped them with cloth. The Prime Minister then draped shawls on the civic workers, joined hands and bid goodbye to them.
The Prime Minister took a dip in Triveni Sangam before washing the feet of the civic workers. He had visited Kumbh to take part in Swachh Kumbh, Swachh Aabhaar programme.
