Udupi, Feb 25: KPCC working president Eshwar Khandre when asked about speculations on JP Hegde returning to Congress, said that the former MP is welcome to the party as he was earlier in the party and is also their friend.
Addressing people at ‘Gandhiana’ programme held by Udupi district Rajiv Gandhi Panchayat Raj on Monday, Khandare said that he was not aware on what context deputy chief minister G Parameshwara said he lost opportunities of being CM thrice. "Parameshwara is doing good work as deputy chief minister and also when he was the state president of the party."
Regarding differences between Lingayats, he said that it is a personal matter and party cannot intervene in it.
“Congress is for truth and justice while BJP supports lies and injustice. The assurances of Modi have not been fulfilled. ‘Achhe Din’ never came. None of BJP’s promises have become a reality. BJP is Bharatiya Joota Party. Indian constitution and people are at risk. They have misused several government departments,” he lashed out.
Regarding video of Modi washing the legs of civic workers which became viral, he said that BJP is only posing for photographs. “We had fixed a salary of Rs 14,000 to civic workers during our term. But BJP is doing this only for publicity. They remember farmers, safai karamcharis, women and youth when elections are approaching. We worked without expecting anything in return but BJP is enjoying without doing anything. Let the prime minister give details of black money be brought back. They have done nothing,” Khandare alleged.
“The coalition government is secure and will surely complete five years. The government is performing well. Operation Kamala is a curse for the people of Karnataka. People will be relieved from BJP post Lok Sabha elections,” he said.
“Congress national president Rahul Gandhi is a high class leader and Kharge is a veteran politician who has tabled several matters in Lok Sabha,” Khandre added.
