Mangaluru, Feb 25: Catechism Day was celebrated on Sunday, February 24 at Valencia Church.
Fr James D’Souza celebrated the Eucharistic celebration. Fr Joswin D’Souza, the assistant parish priest was the co-celebrated and preached the homily. In his homily he stressed on ‘The importance of catechism in the life of a Christian’.
After the Eucharistic celebration, a small cultural programme was organised at the church golden jubilee hall. Parish priest Fr James D’Souza in his speech stressed on children to be regular for Sunday Mass during holidays and asked the children to inculcate values of catechism in their Christian life. He also thanked the teachers for their selfless service.
Parish council vice president Anil Lobo also spoke during the occasion.
Children class wise gave cultural programme which made the catechism day more colourful.
Teachers were honoured with a memento for their service throughout the year. Children were given prizes for regular attendance and securing first and second in the catechism exam.
Snacks and ice cream were distributed to all the people gathered. Nearly 500 people participated in the programme.
