Beltangady, Feb 4: The 'Padabhisheka' of the statue of Lord Bahubali located in Dharmasthala was performed on Tuesday February 3.
Delivering the benedictory speech on the occasion, Sri Lalitakeeti Swamiji of the Jain Math Karkala said that the people who witness the Abhisheka (ritualistic bath) being offered with various holy liquids to the feet of the Lord who sacrificed everything he had, become spiritually enriched. Not only the human beings but even the trees react to the ritual of holy bath, he noted.
Dharmadhikari Dr D Veerendra Heggade and his wife Hemavati Heggade performed the Padabhisheka.
The elephant, bull and traditional musicians accompanied the grand procession that was taken out before the Padabhisheka. The preliminary puja was performed with 216 pitchers of water, followed by Jalakalashabhisheka.
Later the lotus feet of the Lord were anointed with sandal paste, turmeric, milk and a herbal concoction.
Padubidri Urs Chandayya Ballal, D Harshendra Kumar, Rajendra Kumar and Prof S Prabhakar were present on the occasion.
