Bengaluru, Feb 24: The owners of nearby 350 cars which were gutted in fire at one of the parking gates of Aero India exhibition, find that there is hardly anyone to attend to their grievances and queries. The organisers are owning discreet silence over their questions about the mechanism to reimburse their losses. The owners want to know whether the organizers have covered the event under insurance with public liability clause in which case they would be able to claim insurance for their cars which were gutted in a fire on Saturday.
The car owners have been told by people associated with insurance that they can get full insurance money in case the organizers of the show had obtained public liability insurance. However, some car owners who tried to find answers to their worries, confessed that they got nowhere. The three organisers of the show, ministry of defence, defence exhibition organisation, and Hindustan Aeronatics Ltd (HAL) seem unprepared to provide a clear answer.
The first two have said that they had entrusted the event to HAL on outsourcing basis and hence they are not aware whether the event was covered under public liability insurance. Public liability covers loss of property as well as third party liabilities like injuries and property damage etc. The people however are not getting a specific reply whether the event was covered under this particular insurance. The officials seem to be unaware as to who is responsible for this and who should be approached.
The vehicle dealers have promised to help the car owners to get their insurance claims settled. Kalyani motors, which deals with Maruti vehicles, has advised Maruti vehicle owners to contact helpline 9900059969 relating to claims connected with this tragedy. Some insurance companies have also opened helplines to help the vehicle owners to complete insurance process.
