Bahrain, Feb 21: ‘Udi Udi’ fame singer Prajoth D’Sa won the hearts of Bahraini audience with his melodious songs at the musical evening that was held at the Indian Club Auditorium in city on Friday, February 15.
The event ‘A Musical Sojourn with Prajoth D’Sa’ saw the presence of jam-packed audience, which applauded the performance of the young singer with shouts of ‘once more’ after every song.
In the meantime, the role of Bahrain in uplifting the lives of expat families was highlighted with the song ‘We love you Bahrain’, which was specially composed for the show.
Bahrain Konkans, in association with Indian Club, organized the fun-filled event which also included the performances of local singers Ronald Fernandes, Prinson Machado, Christopher Lobo, Manoj Mascarenhas, Teena D’Souza, Ivan Sequeira, Sonia Lobo, Preetham Aranha, Aeron Franco, Freeda Sequeira, Sachitha Fernandes, Melba Martis, Orville Sequeira, Deil Bennis, and Charlene Andrade.
The musical sojourn also witnessed the performance of 71 dancers trained by Hansul Ghani, Preetham Acharya (Destiny Kings Dance Crew), Ajay Lobo, and Harini Shetty (Rhythm Dancers Bahrain) , stealing the hearts of the gathering. MC Dony Correa, Pernal, Dubai, was the MC of the five-and-a-half-hour long event, ensuring lovely flow of the show.
Gururaj M G (keyboard), Ralph Roshan Crasta (lead guitar), Sayojni Simon (drums), Deornellus D’Souza (bass guitar), and Rajeev Kallada (rhythm pad) leveled up the event with their rich music.
Rib-tickling comedy by Dubai-based comedian Roystan Kiran D’Souza Balkunje, along with local artists Stany D’Souza, Ivan Sujay Pinto, Pramila Martis, Hilary Tellis and Sharlin Sequeira, was like icing over the cake.
It was poet Wilson Kateel’s ‘Geet Gazaal’ which enlightened the audience on how he wrote lyrics for Prajoth D’Sa’s songs.
Wilson Kateel, entrepreneur Royprakash Simson from Simson Gun House Bajpe, Mangaluru, Indian Club President Cassius Pereira and Prajoth D’Sa were honoured during the stage programme. Dony Correa, Ronald Fernandes, Roystan Kiran D’Souza, entrepreneurs and philanthropists Bernard and Pressy D’Almeida and Simon and Pressy Machado were also felicitated.
Sacred Heart Church Assistant Parish Priest Fr Darel Fernandes, Bahrain Konkans conveners Melvin and Shabitha Rodrigues, Vincent and Laurine Sequeira, Naveen and Judith Mendonca, and Melka Miyar were present. Joyline D’Silva compered the stage programme.
‘Shruddhanjali,’ a collection of Konkani short stories, written by Naveen Mendonca, was also released on the occasion by Simon and Pressy Machado in the presence of Bellevision Bahrain founder convener Joel D’Sa, Konkani Kutam Bahrain committee member Ronald Fernandes, Naveen Mendonca’s sons Jolveen and Elroy and others. Srujana Prakashan, headed by Vitori Karkal, has published the book, which includes 19 short stories.
Initially, Melka Miyar highlighted the role of Bahrain Konkans in promoting charity and Konkani talents of Bahrain. A silent prayer was observed to mourn the deaths of CRPF jawans martyred in Jammu and Kashmir on February 14. A video message sent by Milagres College Kallianpur Principal Dr Vincent Alva, was also played during the event.
The colourful event ended with Baila Show, which witnessed the participation of hundreds of cheerful dancing audience.
