Mangalore, Feb 2: The inaugural of state-level mythological and historical drama competition was held in Sri Nandaneshwara Temple, Panamboor in the city on Sunday February 1.
Speaking after inaugurating the programme, P Tamilvanan, president, New Mangalore Port Trust (NMPT) assured that NMPT is ever ready to support and encourage the art forms of drama and Yakshagana in the coastal region.
The culture and rich tradition are of late, being swept away by the winds of modernity, lamented R Rangamurty Kalavala, president, Campco.
A S N Hebbar, Lawyer and Venkata Pani, businessman, extended their best wishes for the success of the programme and the organizers.
P Shivaram, president, Panamboor Padmanabhaiah Shanbhogue Birth Centenary Committee, delivered the introductory address. P Sudhakar Kamat and S N Bhat Saimpagallu coordinated the programme. Shakaranarayana Myrpady, secretary of the Committee proposed vote of thanks.
Jeevan Ullal, convener, Drama Competition sub committee welcomed the gathering. H U Anantaiah, Baikady Janardhan Acharya and M U Sridhar Achar participated as the judges.
P Ratnakar Rao, managing trustee, Sri Nandaneshwara Temple and Madhosudhan Rao, managing director were present on the occasion.
