Bengaluru: Minister Jayamala inaugurates cell for helping oppressed woman in state

Bengaluru, Feb 21: State women and child welfare department, Dr Jayamala, said that her department has set up a state level cell for the benefit of oppressed women. The cell aims at improving standard of living of oppressed women, and effectively implementing schemes and programmes aimed at their empowerment and rehabilitation.

She was speaking after inaugurating Women's Helpline 181, Swadhar online software, transit hostel, and one stop centre schemes.

Women's helpline 181, which proposes to extend urgent and necessary help to women who become victims of atrocities, has been introduced. The helpline will work on all BSNL connections without any break.

The minister also said that the department has introduced a scheme of granting interest-free loan of Rs 50,000 for the supervisors working in the department to acquire two-wheelers.
