Puttur, Feb 21: Dakshina Kannada district in-charge minister, U T Khader, addressing a press meet here on Wednesday February 20, revealed that sanction has been accorded for the construction of a bridge-cum-dam between Harekala and Adyar.
"Several areas are still struggling to get clean drinking water in adequate quantities. In this backdrop, a proposal to build a dam with bridge between these two villages at a cost of Rs 200 crore had been submitted. This proposal has been approved by the government," he explained.
Khader said that Rs 65 lac has been earmarked for arranging drinking water while Rs 125 crore has been allotted for underground drainage system. He stated that the progress of the project had lagged behind because of problems encountered in acquiring land in some places. "Therefore, we have issued instructions to the officials to acquire land in advance before proceeding ahead with the implementation of such projects," he narrated.
Khader appreciated the coalition government in the state for working well. He said that the effort made by BJP to destabilize the state government did not bear fruits, and the conspiracy hatched by Narendra Modi along with Amit Shah to cause the government to crash did not yield the desired result. "BJP members raised lot of din during the budget session. Still, for the first time in history, the state budget was passed without any discussion. There is no doubt that the coalition government will last its full term," he opined.
He condemned the act of terrorists at Pulwama, Kashmir and opined that India should hit back at them. "We are with the central government on this issue. At the same time, we urge the government to probe how 300 kg RDX was smuggled in from across the border. He accused Narendra Modi of falling silent after making tall claims of keeping the neighbours under check if his party rose to power. "Why is he unable to control the aggression of Pakistan and China? The people, who criticized Manmohan Singh for his silence, have now been observing prolonged silence. The central government rule during the last four years has miserably failed. The leaders have failed to keep their promises," he criticized.
