Karwar, Feb 20: Union minister Anant Kumar Hegde is in news again for his controversial remarks. On Tuesday, February 19, he lashed out at the journalists saying that the scribes both in print and electronic media do not write in favour of him.
Speaking to BJP party workers in Alagere in Ankola, Hegde said, "If you want to be peaceful, mentally stable, keep diabetes and BP in control, do not watch news channels. Stop reading newspapers, because they do not write in favour of you. Let them write whatever they want to."
There are many reasons behind Hegde venting anger on media persons. In January, during a job fair, media persons had asked him about the alleged poaching by the BJP as part of Operation Lotus. Instead of replying to the scribes present at the venue, his guards had manhandled them. Local Karwar BJP MLAs and other party leaders had mocked the journalists which enraged the latter who decided to boycott his programmes.
Few weeks ago, when the minister had been to Ankola to inaugurate passport centre, none of the journalists had taken his reactions. Embarrassed, the minister had discussed the matter with his associates and since then he has been venting his anger on the scribes branding them as 'leftists'.
