Tumakuru, Feb 19: An FIR stands registered against MLA C T Ravi in the Kunigal police station relating to the accident in which his car collided with two parked cars killing two youths.
Puneeth, who is injured in the accident, did not register the name of C T Ravi in the FIR initially. When his family members came to know that MLA Ravi was also in the car, they expressed their outrage. Later they filed a FIR against the MLA also.
In the road accident that took place on the late night of Monday, February 18, the car in which MLA C T Ravi was travelling banged against the two stationary cars that were parked by the road side, as the passengers were relieving themselves, resulting in the death of two youths. Muniraju, Jayachandra, Puneeth and Manjunath, the four companions of the deceased youths, received minor injuries and they are being treated at the government hospital of Kunigal. C T Ravi and the other three people who were travelling with him also have received minor injuries.
The police are investigating the case under the leadership of Kunigal DySP Ramalingegowda. A meeting in this regard was held at the Kunigal police station and they have got information of the accident from CPI Ashok Kumar, PSI Anil Kumar, PSI Puttegowda and PSI Manju.
According to sources, complaint was filed against MLA C T Ravi and his accomplices in the car under IPC section 279 (irresponsible vehicle driving), 377 (causing death of person) and 304a (causing death due to negligence).

Speaking about the incident, MLA C T Ravi, said, "After the programme at Shivamogga on Monday, February 18, I was ready to attend the programme in Chennai on Tuesday, February 19. I went with a driver called Akash at around 11.30 pm. As the car started rolling I fell into sleep. In addition, I had instructed the driver to drive the car within a speed limit of 100 kilometers. When I heard the loud thud of the car, I opened my eyes and saw that the airbags of the car ballooned. The door of the car was also jammed. This incident is very unfortunate. I will visit the families of the deceased and console them."

Meanwhile, Pallavi Ravi, wife of BJP MLA C T Ravi, in Chikkamagaluru, expressed shock on the accusation that Ravi was inebriated and was driving the vehicle when the accident took place, which claimed the lives of two youths.
"It is an absolute lie that my husband C T Ravi had consumed alcohol and driven the car when the accident took place. My husband does not even drink coffee. How it is possible that he would consume alcohol? I was shocked by the accusation," said Pallavi Ravi.

Pallavi was denying the accusations made the members of the family of two youths, who lost their lives in the Kunigal road accident when the car in which C T Ravi was travelling banged against the stationary car of the people who died in the incident. Pallavi said that excepting water, her husband does not drink any other beverage.
Pallavi gave further clarification and said, "Ravi had a meeting in Chennai. His flight was booked for 6 am on Tuesday, February 19. So he had left house at 12 midnight. He has given up car driving many years ago. He has totally forgotten how to drive."
"I regret the death of the two youths in the incident. This accident should not have happened. I will visit the houses of the deceased and offer condolences," added Pallavi Ravi.
