Udupi, Jan 31: The two-day festival of films directed by renowned short story writer, producer and director Nagatihalli Chandrashekhar got underway at the Nutana Ravindra Mantap of M G M College here, on the morning of Saturday January 31. During the film festival, students and others will have a chance to enjoy the directorial feats of Nagatihalli at one go, besides having an opportunity to directly interact with this fine director.
The festival was inaugurated by Manipal Media Network managing director Satish U Pai. Karnataka Bank Ltd general manager B Ashok Hegde participated as chief guest.
Four films, Matad Matad Mallige, Hoomale, Kotreshi Kanasu and America America, all directed by the talented director, have been lined up for the festival. After every film, the viewers will have an opportunity to freely interact with Nagatihalli Chandrashekhar about the film.
Speaking on the occasion, Ashok Hegde said, that a film to be successful, needs a strong and interesting presentation rather than a star-studded cast or attractive hero and heroines. In fact, the director who has full control over the flow of the film is the real hero, was he can chart the success of his film, he stressed.
Nagatihalli Chandrashekhar and MGM Pre University College principal Anasuya Karkera were present.
Academy of General Education administrative officer Dr H Shantaram presided. M G M College principal Jayprakash Mavinakuli welcomed. Dr D R Pandurang proposed vote of thanks. Kokkarne Surendranath Shetty compered the programme.
The valedictory ceremony of the festival will be held on the evening of Sunday February 1. Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce president Jayamala will chair the programme.
