Mangaluru, Feb 19: After a Toyota Innova car that was moving towards Bengaluru from the city met with an accident near Bellur Cross in Mandya district in the morning hours of Monday February 18, two young men from the city were killed. Ten others including a pedestrian were injured in this accident.
Those whose lives were snuffed out in this accident happened to be Imtiaz (20), son of Kundala Badruddin from Adyar Kannur here, and Muhammed Shahnawaz (19), son of Abdulla alias Ghani from Jarandabettu, Kannur.
Muzammil, Safwan and Mustaq sustained grave injuries in the accident. Shahnawaz, Hidayatullah, Sharwan, Muhammed Shaqir, Salman Farish, and Shahnawaz escaped with minor injuries. All of them are from Kannur. Susheelamma from Alisandra, a teacher by profession, who was walking by the road, also suffered injuries.
The people in Innova car had planned to undertake a tour of four days. They had begun their journey from Kannur here at 2 am on Monday towards Bengaluru. The accident occurred at around 7 am near Bellur Cross near Adichunchanagiri Math on national highway 75. It is said that the accident happened after a tyre of the vehicle burst all of a sudden. The car which then went out of the control of its driver, hit the compound of a roadside Dhaba. As a result, Imtiaz and Muhammed Shahnawaz died on the spot.
Imtiaz was operating a stall selling chocolates in the market located in Bunder area in the city. Imtiaz has left behind two sisters and a brother. The other deceased, Muhammed Shahnawaz, was a second PU student of a private college here. He is survived by a sister.
