Mangalore: Students, Activists, Protest Attack on Women

Mangalore, Jan 31:  Students from the College of Social Work, Roshni Nilaya, and members of other organizations, protested against the recent attack on women at a city  pub.

The students blocked the road in front of their college at Valencia and demanded justice  for women while condemning  the attack on the girls at the pub.


They held placards that said ‘Do not divide us on caste and religion’ and ‘Stop this, it is  too much’ and so on.

Students demanded a ban on organizations which resort to violence on matters of caste and religion. Such organizations should be declared as terrorist organizations. Members of such organizations, who are involved in such activity should be expelled from the district, they urged.
 
Members of various other organizations including the People’s Movement for Constitutional Rights, staged a symbolic protest in front of the Gandhi statue at Town Hall. 

The protests come on the eve of Gandhiji’s death anniversary.

    Attack on women, children, girls, boys, men or any sort of live being should I say is not acceptable because

    1. The attacked are caught unawares.

    2. The attacked do not have enough time and place to protect themselves.

    1. The perpetrator should make sure that they have unquestionable charecter and reputation in the society.

    2. The perpetrator should be authorised by a noble cause and in dire situations and the negligence of the duty will lead to destruction of society or the person.

    1. Students and persons under formation ( school-college-graduating) should in no way be found to be getting drunk, mis-behaving and out of control of their senses. If they are not in senses what future are they preparing /studying/forming themselves for??

    The above are a few thoughts... However, No person who is not related should be allowed to try and control morality issues in the society because what happens will be gang wars and group fights. One group that does not like the other trying to enforce perceived moral responsibility to police society which in itself is crime and openly committing crime. So, Before banning the pub culture it would be the responsibilty of the Governments if they really govern at all the areas that are affected, state and nation should first put an end to these Groups and Sene and sena, Dal and what ever name they go by and are affiliated to small and big political parties. THESE PETTY GROUPS ARE SURVIVING ON CRIMINALLY GAINED WEALTH AND FUNDS COLLECTED BY CO-ERSION AND LOOTING. Hafta is the better word for these groups funding mechanism... Stop the SENE AND SENA AND DAL and society would be better place and pub culture will surely get corrected.
