Mangalore, Jan 31: Students from the College of Social Work, Roshni Nilaya, and members of other organizations, protested against the recent attack on women at a city pub.
The students blocked the road in front of their college at Valencia and demanded justice for women while condemning the attack on the girls at the pub.
They held placards that said ‘Do not divide us on caste and religion’ and ‘Stop this, it is too much’ and so on.
Students demanded a ban on organizations which resort to violence on matters of caste and religion. Such organizations should be declared as terrorist organizations. Members of such organizations, who are involved in such activity should be expelled from the district, they urged.
Members of various other organizations including the People’s Movement for Constitutional Rights, staged a symbolic protest in front of the Gandhi statue at Town Hall.
The protests come on the eve of Gandhiji’s death anniversary.
