Udupi, Jan 30: Addressing a press conference here recently, Paryaya Puttige Math Swamiji Sri Sugunendra Teerta said that the Tirumala Dasa Sahitya Trust will be arranging for the Bhajans programme in the Math by two troupes every day, apart from holding, for the first time, Srinivas Kalyanotsav in Sri Krishna Math.
"Tirumala Temple Trust has agreed to conduct the regular Bhajans programme and also to bear expenses connected therewith. The programme will be held continuously henceforth. For the first time in its history, Sri Krishna Math will witness Srinivasa Kalyana Mahotsav. The ritual will be performed by vedic scholars from Tirumala Temple by installing the Utsava Murthy (idol used for procession) of Tirumala Temple, he explained. This programme will be held on January 31 evening, he added.
On Friday January 30, the idol of Lord Srinivasa will be offered a grand reception at Kodukatte in the city from where it will be brought in a grand procession to the Math. The devotees are requested to offer traditional welcome to the Lord's idol by erecting green festoons on the roadside, requested Gopalacharya, scholar of the Math.
A special festival of Lord Krishna and Tirupati Lord Srinivasa will be held at 7 pm in the car street on that day, to the accompaniment of 30 Bhajan troupes. A meeting will also be conducted under the presidentship of the Math Swamiji, he explained.
The Bhajans programme will be inaugurated by D K Adikeshavulu Naidu of Tirumala Temple Trust. Executive officer of that temple K V Ramanachari and scholar Anandatertacharya Padagal will participate as chief guests in the function, he explained.
The Srinivasa Kalynotsav will be held at 5 pm in Rajangan. Devotees are requested to come to the function, dressed in marriage attire. At the function, Sri Krishna Math plans to present a unique gift to Lord Srinivasa, he added.
