Mangalore, Jan 29: The state-level mythological and historical Tulu and Kannada drama competition will be held at Nataraja Ranga Sangama auditorium of Lord Nandaneshwara Temple Panambur here, from Sunday February 1 to Saturday February 7.
The competition is being held on the occasion of the birth centenary celebrations of the late Panambur Padmanabhaiah Shanbhogue, said Shankarnarayan Myrpady, convener, speaking at a press conference held here on Wednesday January 28.
Krishna J Palemar, district in-charge minister, will inaugurate the programme on Sunday February 1 at 4.30 pm.
S R Rangamurty, president, Campco, P Tamilvanan, president, Mew Mangalore Port Trust, A S N Hebbar, lawyer from Kundapur, Sambashiva Rao, businessman and Devanand Shetty will participate as the chief guests.
Anand Ganiga, president, Udupi Ranga Bhoomi, Dr M Mohan Alva, president, Alva's Education Foundation, B Nagaraj Shetty, chairman, Coastal Development Authority, Kannada Sahitya Parishat ex-president Harikrishna Punaroor, Pradeep Kumar Kalkura, president, Kannada Sahitya Parishat, Lakshmikumaran, officer, Mangalore Refinery and Petrochemicals Limited and Kadri Navneet Shetty, circulation manager, Times of India, will participate as chief guests at the valedictory function to be held on Sunday February 8.
Dramas like 'Ekalavya', 'Kuduruda Siri', 'Shri Krishna Devaraya', 'Satyameva Jayate', 'Yakshamani', 'Smashanam Kurukshetram' and 'Dangeya Munchina Dinagalu' will be staged each day from Sunday 1 to Saturday 7 from 5.45 pm to 8 pm.
P Shivaram, president of the organizing committee, Madhukar Bhagwan, secretary, Jeevan Ullal, joint convener and Sudhakar Kamat were present at the press conference.
