Udupi, Jan 29: The functioning style of the state BJP government has proved that it is against Hinduism, said Jeetesh Kumar, state joint convener of Sri Ram Sena, speaking at a press conference here on Wednesday January 28.
Pramod Mutalik, founder of Sri Ram Sena, who has been arrested in connection with a Davangere case, must be released before Thursday January 29 evening, failing which a protest will be held at all the district headquarters of the state on Friday January 30, he warned.
"The state government will be solely responsible for the consequences resulting out of the proposed protest. Dr V S Acharya, state home minister, has termed the Sena activists who participated in the pub attack as robbers, thieves and collectors of protection money. Let the police produce records if any in their possession, to prove this claim. Not a single case of extortion has been filed against the Sena workers anywhere in the state,” he claimed. He also asked the political outfits to immediately stop making unfounded allegations against the Sena, with an eye on the ensuing election.
"We respect the rights of women. We are also pained at their misuse. The workers had gone to advise the concerned, but there was a lapse on their part. We apologize for the assault on women," he said. However, he justified the attack.
If the state government does not stop the pubs from functioning beyond 11 pm, our attack on pub culture will continue. The Sena will intimate the police department in advance about the clandestine activities going on in the pubs and if they do not act, we will. The police department has been encouraging immoral activities by not taking any action against those involved with them, he alleged.
Sri Rama Sena leaders Kumaraswami, Rajesh Yermal and Madhukar Mudradi were present.
