Udupi: IFCA lauds state govt for releasing grant for Christian Development Corporation

Udupi, Feb 14: International Fellowship of Christian Assemblies (IFCA), district wing has congratulated chief minister H D Kumaraswamy for announcing a grant of Rs 200 crores in the state budget for the establishment of Christian Development Corporation, a long-time dream of Christians of the state.

IFCA along with other Christian organizations had appealed numerous times to successive governments for the establishment of the corporation. The Christians of the state had kept special expectations of the government releasing grant for the same in this year's budget. IFCA congratulates the coalition government for making their dream come true.

Dr Aloysius Paul D'Souza, former bishop of Mangaluru Diocese and president of IFCA Ronald Colaco had appealed to several people in this regard including former minister of central government Oscar Fernandes and former chief minister of Karnataka Siddaramaiah.

The statement Steevan Colaco, chief secretary of IFCA, Udupi district said, "We offer thanks on behalf of all the Christian organizations to Bishop of Udupi Diocese Gerald Isaac Lobo, deputy chief minister of Karnataka Dr G Parameshwar, former CM Siddaramaiah, minister K J George, former central minister Oscar Fernandes, and former MLAs J R Lobo, and Vinay Kumar Sorake who have strived for getting the establishment of the corporation for Christians. IFCA Udupi also congratulates Ivan D'Souza, who was successful in getting the grant released, Prashant Jattanna and Lewis Lobo, former presidents of IFCA, who led delegations for appealing on the demand, present president Nery Cornelio and others."
