Panaji, Jan 28: A substantial portion of British teenager Scarlett Eden Keeling’s organs, which were left back in Goa, are missing, said the lawyer representing Fiona Mackeown.

“The substantial portion which is critical for forensic examination is destroyed by these labs. And a small portion of the organs might be handed over to Fiona when she arrives here,” said Vikram Varma, Fiona’s lawyer.

He said that much of the kidneys and liver had been destroyed while parts of the uterus and pancreas are intact.

Scarlett’s body is currently undergoing a third autopsy in UK. “These organs are crucial to the autopsy”, said Varma.

Scarlett was found dead on Goa’s Anjuna beach on February 18 last year. Two locals were arrested for drugging, raping, and leaving her to die on the beach. Fiona had alleged that a drug gang operating in the state was behind her daughter’s murder.

A second autopsy was conducted on Scarlett’s body when the first one could not reveal the cause of death. The second autopsy said that the death could be a murder.

During the two autopsies conducted in the state, her vital organs had been removed for further investigations and sent to forensic labs in Mumbai and Hyderabad.

The lawyer now claims that the organs were disposed off from those labs.

The sensational case is being investigated by central bureau of investigation (CBI), who are yet to take the formal statement of Fiona.
