Mangaluru, Feb 12: Police personnel from Bajpe station here, along with officials of mines and geology department, raided a spot in Addoor village on Monday, February 11, after collecting information about illegal sand extraction going on there. During the raid, the officials found that sand extraction was going on with the help of boats from Falguni river. The officials seized assets worth over five lac rupees.
The raid was conducted based on reliable information. In addition to sand, equipment worth five lac rupees used for sand extraction were taken into custody. The items which were taken into custody were two metal boats, and a red metal boat brought for fixing dredging machine.
The raid was guided by city north subdivision assistant police commissioner, Srinivas Gowda and executed by Bajpe police inspector, S Parashivamurthy, police sub-inspector, Shankar Nairy and other staff. Official of mines and geology department, Padmashree, inspector of revenue department, Asif, and village accountant, Prameela, also participated.
