Margao, January 23: The two-day 12th National Conference on e-Governance will be held in Goa under the joint auspices of the department of administrative reforms and public grievances (DAR&PG), department of information technology(IT), government of India and the department of IT, government of Goa on February 12 and 13, 2009.
A meeting was held at the conference hall of the state secretariat in Porvorim, presided by Prabhas Kumar Jha, joint secretary, DAR&PG to review the progress in preparations for the two-day event.
The meeting was attended by Lekha Kumar, director, e-governance of DAR&PG, Narendra Kumar, secretary, information and publicity, Udipta Ray, secretary, IT, Shantaram R Shet, managing director of Infotech Corporation Goa, Prasad Loleyekar, director, art and culture, apart from senior officials of the departments of police, transport, electricity and protocol.
The Governor of Goa Dr Shivinder Singh Sidhu will inaugurate the conference at Hotel Holiday Inn, Cavelossim, South Goa at 5.30 pm on February 12. Chief minister Digambar Kamat will preside over the programme.
Earlier, a meeting was held at the conference hall of the chief secretary's office under the chairmanship of J P Singh, chief secretary, to deliberate on the arrangements for the conference and involve participation of the state departments and for striking coordination towards making the conference a success.
The total number of 800 delegates are expected to attend the conference, including ministers, chief secretaries, secretaries, heads of departments of various states in the country, captains of industries, NGOs and the student community from professional Colleges among others, related with the IT Sector.
During the two-day Conference, awards will be presented to personalities for meritorious contribution to the IT Sector. The list of awardees is expected to be announced soon.
