Udupi, Jan 29: A strong demand for giving Lok Sabha ticket from Udupi-Chikkamagaluru Lok Sabha constituency to a local leader came to the fore at the district BJP special executive meeting organized at the district BJP office at Kunjibettu here on Monday January 28. A number of party workers pitched in against fielding a rank outsider, Shobha Karandlaje, or some other person who is not from here, for the coming Lok Sabha election on behalf of BJP.
The meeting was organized in preparation for the Lok Sabha election this year. The participants said that D V Sadananda Gowda from Puttur and Manorama Madhwaraj who migrated from Congress had been given tickets from here, but both had failed to contribute to the development of the district. Therefore, they said that the ticket should go to a local leader.
Shobha Karandlaje
A number of participants said that although the union government led by Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, had implemented a number of people-friendly schemes, MP, Shobha Karandlaje, had not achieved significantly during the last four and half years. When a number of workers said that Shobha is not accessible, a number of workers enthusiastically clapped, to the embarrassment of BJP leaders on the dais.
Leader of the opposition in state legislative council, Kota Srinivas Poojary, Karkala MLA, V Sunil Kumar, district BJP president, Mattaru Ratnakar Hegde, former MP, K Jayaprakash Hegde and others said that they will convey the feelings expressed by the party workers to the notice of top leaders of the party.
