Panaji, Jan 15:
The Goa bench of Mumbai High court today admitted a case against megastar Amitabh Bachchan and others for violating anti-tobacco laws in the state.

The bench ruled that there is prima facie case against Bachchan and others for proceeding against them for the  violation of tobacco control law prevalent in the case,  in criminal complaint filed by a Goa based non-government organization.

National Organisation for Tobacco Eradication (NOTE)-India, an anti tobacco NGO, had filed a criminal case against Bachchan and others after a huge poster that  showed the megastar with a cigar in his mouth was displayed on the state's highway.

The poster was from the Hindi movie, `Family' and was put up by Anchor, an electric appliances company.

The NOTE had initially filed the case in the court of JMFC at Panaji where issuance of processes against the concerned was ordered.

All the accused except Anchor had challenged the issuance of the  process before the sessions court which allowed the challenge and quashed the process against all the accused except Anchor.

This order of the sessions court was challenged by NOTE-India before the High Court by way of criminal revision.

The High Court today found prima facie a case against Bachchan and has admitted the same for revision.
