Bengaluru, Jan 26: Congress leaders, who have been making unprecedented preparations for Lok Sabha election, have vowed to reduce BJP to single digit in state by working unitedly. A decision to this affect was taken at a meeting of presidents of different front units of the party held at the office of Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) office on Friday January 25, which was chaired by KPCC state president, Dinesh Gundu Rao, and working president, Ishwar Khandre.
The party leaders have planned to strengthen the armies of party workers right from the booth level by organising different programmes towards strengthening the party's voter base and achieve the objective of winning maximum number of Lok Sabha seats and decimate BJP.
It is gathered that the local leaders have been asked to keep caste calculations in mind in individual constituencies, but continue to have regular contacts with all the communities to ensure their victory. Each of these units have ben told to organize special programmes towards trying to convince the voters about the need to choose Congress candidates.
To appeal to the women voters who form nearly 50 percent of the electorate, image of Priyanka Gandhi would be used, as per a decision taken at the meeting. The leaders also agreed that Congress workers have to work for the victory of the candidates put up by either the Congress or JD(S) as the two parties are fighting the coming election with mutual understanding. The leaders said that this would help the party to ensure victory of its candidates to the maximum and defeat BJP candidates.
Former chief minister, Siddaramaiah, speaking at Kadur, said that the two parties have already begun discussions on the seat sharing arrangement for the Lok Sabha election, and that candidates would be fielded by either the Congress or JD(S) based on their winnability. Dinesh Gundu Rao claimed that the charisma of Modi government is sliding down and its popularity is bound to fall further. "People of the country are frustrated at the BJP and rhetorics of Modi. People of the country have never come across 'Acche Din' as claimed by Modi. They have been encountering bad days continuously," he said.
