Moodbidri: BD leader held for plot to kill Prashanth Poojary murder-accused

Moodbidri, Jan 25: Police personnel attached to the town police station here, on Wednesday January 23, arrested Somanath Kotian, president of Beluvai gram panchayat, who happens to be a leader of Bajrang Dal. Kotian has been charged with drawing up a plan to murder Imthiaz (29), a hotelier from Gantalkatte here, who has been identified as one among the people accused of murdering Prashanth Poojary, a Bajrang Dal activist, three years back.

Somanath Kotian was produced in the court here upon which he was remanded to 15 days judicial custody.

Imthiaz, accused in Prashanth Poojary murder case, had been released on bail. Thereafter, he began to run a small hotel at Gantalkatte. Some people who came in an Innova car on the morning of September 24, 2018 and entered Imthiaz's hotel in the guise of having tea, had attacked Imthiaz with lethal weapons and tried to kill him. Imthiaz had succeeded in saving himself and escape from the attack. The accused in the case were arrested by Mangaluru police a few days thereafter.

During the investigation, the police found that Somanath Kotian form Beluvai had planned this attack. The police here have been continuing with investigation.
